How do I protect wrapped surfaces?

A safe distance of around 200mm from direct flame is generally recommended.

Can vinyl be used behind gas cooktops?

It is generally not recommended directly behind open gas flames.

Can vinyl be used near kettles?

Yes. Normal kitchen steam and heat will not damage properly installed vinyl.

Can vinyl be used near dishwashers?

Yes. Vinyl is suitable for cabinet doors near dishwashers.

Can vinyl be used near ovens?

Yes. Vinyl can be used on cabinets near ovens.

Is kitchen wrap heat resistant?

Yes. Architectural vinyl can tolerate radiant heat from normal kitchen appliances.

Can hot pans be placed on wrapped surfaces?

No. Always use trivets or chopping boards to protect the surface.

Are wrapped benchtops durable?

They can handle normal use but they are not as durable as stone or laminate benchtops.

Can kitchen benchtops be wrapped?

Sometimes. Vinyl can be used on benchtops but it should be treated as a cosmetic finish.

Can damaged cabinets be wrapped?

Minor imperfections can sometimes be repaired first, but heavily damaged surfaces should be fixed before wrapping.

Can tiles be wrapped?

No. Tile grout lines will show through the vinyl and prevent proper adhesion.

Can textured surfaces be wrapped?

No. Rough or heavily textured surfaces will show through the vinyl.

Can timber cabinets be wrapped?

Sometimes. Timber grain surfaces usually need to be sanded smooth and primed first.

Can laminate cabinets be wrapped?

Yes. Laminate cabinets are usually ideal surfaces for architectural vinyl.

Can end panels be wrapped?

Yes. End panels are commonly wrapped during kitchen resurfacing.

Can toe kicks be wrapped?

Yes. Toe kicks can be wrapped to match the rest of the kitchen.

Can cabinet sides be wrapped?

Yes. End panels and cabinet sides can be wrapped.

Can drawer fronts be wrapped?

Yes. Drawer fronts are wrapped the same way as cabinet doors.

Can cabinet doors be wrapped?

Yes. Cabinet doors are one of the most common surfaces for kitchen wrapping.

What surfaces can kitchen wrap be applied to?

Kitchen wrap works best on smooth, clean and non-textured surfaces.

Does the backing paper have measuring guides?

Yes. Many vinyl products include 100mm grid lines on the backing paper which helps with measuring and cutting.

Yes. Wrapping around the back edge by about 5–10mm helps prevent the vinyl lifting over time from fingers, moisture or cleaning.

Do I need to remove cabinet doors first?

It is usually easier to remove doors and drawer fronts before wrapping them.

Does kitchen wrap have air-release backing?

Yes. Most architectural vinyl has air-release channels in the adhesive that help push air out during installation.

Why is a heat gun used when wrapping vinyl?

Heat makes the vinyl flexible so it can stretch slightly and mould around edges and corners.

What tools do I need to wrap a kitchen?

Basic tools include: felt edge squeegee, sharp snap-off knife, heat gun, measuring tape, surface cleaner or isopropyl alcohol, primer for edges.

Is kitchen wrapping difficult?

Flat cabinet doors are usually straightforward for DIY installers. More complex shapes and corners require practice.

Can I wrap my kitchen myself?

Yes. Many people install kitchen wrap themselves. The process requires patience, careful preparation and the right tools.

Is kitchen wrapping permanent?

It is designed to be long-lasting but it can be removed later if needed.

Can kitchen wrap be used in modern kitchens and older kitchens?

Is kitchen wrap the same as contact paper?

No. Kitchen wrap vinyl is a professional architectural film designed for interior surfaces. It is thicker, more durable and designed to last many years.

Why do people wrap kitchens instead of replacing them?

Wrapping allows you to update the appearance of a kitchen without removing cabinets. It avoids demolition, reduces waste and is usually much quicker than a full kitchen renovation.

How does kitchen wrap stick to cabinets?

The vinyl has a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. Once the surface is cleaned and prepared, the vinyl is applied and bonded using pressure from a squeegee.
